Second Blog in Quarantine

This week was very boring. This corona virus is starting to get very out of hand and I am not a fan of the social distancing. All I have done this week was school work and exercising. Looking on the bright side of things, I will be a little buffer after this corona virus blows over.

First Blog in Quarantine

Today was a very boring day. The coronavirus caused me to stay inside for at least a week now and it is becoming very boring. Nothing to do but school work and watching T.V. I am thinking about trying yoga or meditation to pass the time. Lets see how it goes.

Family Trees

Today I was absent for the first half of the class. When I came to class we were dicussing family trees. It was pretty interesting seeing how they work and how they traced your history. We ended class by looking at old pictures of each other.

Preparing for National History Day Again

Today I did not attend class becuase I was preparing for the National History Day with my partner. National History Day is coming up pretty fast so we had to buckle down on our project. We spent most of our time preparing our presentation board and getting the information we will put on there.

ACT

Today I took the ACT test. I have been studying for months for this test and hopefully I did better than the last time I took it. I am confident that I did better because  was able to complete all of the sections this time. My timing has gotten better with these types of test because I have taken more of them and I have practiced more with them. Now I am patiently waiting for the scores to be released some time next month.

Oaklawn Cementary Cleanup

Today was a pretty interesting day. I did not attend class today because of another field trip. Today we went to Oaklawn Cementary, a cementary for veterans, and helped clean up. Most of my time out there was spent picking up trash and moving chopped down trees. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed my time out there and I am glad I went and got to be a part of something like that. I know it means alot to the families' of the people buried there that we came out and did what we did today.

The Orienteering Trip

I did not attend class today due to a field trip. I went orienteering with JROTC in Scoutshire Woods. Orienteering is basically finding plotted points in the woods using land navigation skills. We were in competition with other schools while orientering, so we had to find our points as fast as possible. I was the leader of my own group and we managed to find a good amount of points before time was up. This was a pretty fun trip.

Preparing for National History Day

I did not attend class today because my partner Aerie and I were preparing for our National History Day project. Our project is on the Selma to Montgomery Marches and how it broke barriers in history. We spent today typing up our information we researched and choosing pictures we will use. Our project seems like it will be very fun to do as well as very eye-opening because of the impact the marches still have on us today. A major impact was that it allowed black people to be able to vote.

Another AP Exam Question

Today was another normal day in class. Class today was spent looking at another AP exam question and the sources for it. This was basically what we did yesterday, we just got a deeper understanding on it today. We focused on how to incorporate the sources into our writings today. This was very helpful because it was hard to do at first.

Back From the Break

Today was another normal day in class. It was our first day back from the Mardi Gras break and it went pretty smoothly. Class today was spent discussing an AP exam prompt. The prompt asked whether the U.S. should have a set national curriculum. I personally think that the U.S. should have a set national curriculum because it can help with educational inequality problems in the country today. We then looked at the sources and got more practice on determining whether each source was for or against the prompt.
